Great news, Hylian Hero! Nintendo has officially released the first screenshots from the live-action *The Legend of Zelda* movie, which is currently in production in New Zealand. These initial images provide the first official look at Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in their costumes.
The released photos include individual close-ups of both Link and Zelda, as well as a wider shot showing the two characters together against a lush, natural backdrop that evokes the landscapes of Hyrule.
Here’s what we can glean from these first official glimpses:
* **Link’s Attire:** Benjamin Evan Ainsworth’s Link is depicted wearing a dark green tunic and a cream undershirt, a look that is reminiscent of his appearance in *Twilight Princess*.
* **Zelda’s Attire:** Bo Bragason’s Princess Zelda is seen in blue robes, similar in color to the Champion’s Tunic worn by Link in *Breath of the Wild*. She also has plaits in her hair and is notably armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows.
* **Setting:** The images showcase a “lush, natural setting,” confirming the film’s use of New Zealand’s landscapes to bring Hyrule to life.
The movie, officially announced in November 2023, is being co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with Nintendo’s legendary creative boss Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad producing. Wes Ball, known for directing *The Maze Runner* franchise and *Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes*, is at the helm, with a screenplay by Derek Connolly. The film is slated for a theatrical release on May 7, 2027.
While these are the first official images, some unofficial set videos had previously leaked online, showing early glimpses of the cast in a forest scene. However, these official releases from Nintendo offer a clearer and authorized look at the highly anticipated adaptation.
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates, and perhaps we’ll even get some game-related questions next time!
