To respec your character’s stats in *Elden Ring*, you must utilize the “Rebirth” mechanic. This process allows you to redistribute all attribute points you have earned through leveling, effectively letting you change your character’s build.

## Prerequisites for Respec
Before you can respec, you must meet two specific requirements:

* **Defeat Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon:** You must progress through the Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia of the Lakes and defeat Rennala. After her defeat, she becomes a non-hostile NPC residing in the **Raya Lucaria Grand Library**.
* **Obtain a Larval Tear:** This is a rare, consumable item required to initiate the Rebirth process. You must have at least one in your inventory to perform a respec.

## How to Perform a Rebirth
Once you have met the requirements, follow these steps:

1. **Travel to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library:** Use the Site of Grace located within the boss arena where you fought Rennala.
2. **Speak to Rennala:** Interact with her and select the **”Rebirth”** option from her dialogue menu.
3. **Consume a Larval Tear:** The game will prompt you to use one Larval Tear. Note that the item is only consumed if you confirm your new stat allocation; you can safely enter the menu to experiment without losing the item.
4. **Reallocate Your Stats:** Your stats will reset to the base values of your starting class. You can then spend all your earned attribute points as you see fit.
* **Constraint:** You cannot lower any attribute below the base value determined by your chosen starting class.
* **Requirement:** You must allocate all available points before you can finalize the process.

## Important Considerations
* **Limited Resource:** Larval Tears are finite in each playthrough. While there are enough to respec multiple times, they do not respawn. Be certain of your new build before confirming.
* **No “De-leveling”:** You cannot reduce your character’s overall level; you are only redistributing the points you have already acquired.
* **Finding Larval Tears:** These items are scattered throughout the Lands Between. Common sources include enemies disguised as weaker creatures (such as the wandering noble in Limgrave that transforms into a bear) and specific locations like Nokron, Eternal City, and Carian Manor.
